Mar(k): Travel, Hiking, and "Doing Good"

musings on our life of travel and volunteering

Great Ghanaian Gab Fest

with 2 comments

A HUGE thank you to all our friends and supporters who came out to make our Ghana talk on Inspired Philanthropy such a success!  It was great to see so many interested and like-minded souls out there!   It seems everyone had a great time, and one friend in particular said “wow – what a great group of people!”    Well, we certainly agree!

Mar(k) had a great time sharing stories and photos of our time in Ghana, as well as a discussion on micro-finance and the importance of giving.  We are pretty interested in the ideas and philosophy around http://www.kiva.org/, please have a check out of their website when you get a chance.   We may well be considering this organisation in our next volunteer assignment overseas!

A big thank you also to the wonderful Kirsten and Hsin who helped to make the evening such a success.  In particular a big thanks to Kirsten for having us at the Inspiration Factory free of charge!  You are indeed a gem, Kirsten.

A few photos (taken by our favourite anarchist Michael) are a great reminder of our dear friends, and the good times!   For those of you who are too far away to have been able to join us, here is just a taste of the evening via photo!   Thank you everyone….

  1. It’s nice the way you guys are proactively raising issues around development and volunteering back home. My friends the philanthropists has a nice ring to it!

    • thanks Aaron! These ARE important issues, and it was great to be in a room with like minded souls. Every little bit of awareness will make the world a better place – a great one when we realise we are really, at the end of the day – the same… just human beings!
